Experimenting with acrylics, this one on gessoed watercolor paper. Since this medium dries so fast, every brushstroke decision is immediately recorded; I can't second-guess and noodle away until the image is gradually transformed into something unintended. At the same time, changes are easily made after the paint dries. Experimenting without worrying about outcomes is yummy.
After taking a 15-year hiatus from pastel painting, I've fallen in love with the medium again. Feels like learning to paint all over again. The sticks themselves are irresistible, and the self-delusion is similar to oil painting: instead of thinking "if I only had the right brush, surface, etc.," I'm now thinking "if I only had the right color, texture, etc."
June 4 - Puenta La Reina (“the Queen’s Bridge) is also the name of the town that lies along the Camino, between Pamplona and Estella. It’s at the end of a walk through wheat fields, white asparagus fields, and olive groves. The bridge was built in the 11th century, commissioned by the wife of the king of this region, known as Navarra.
